Blue Roses a play by Sandra de Helen

24 Jan 2019 11:31 AM | Sandra de Helen

Blue Roses was published by Madwomen in the Attic online with notes by the author. It can be read for free in total here: https://madintheattic.org/2019/01/21/sandra-de-helen/ The play is set in 1940 in a so-called insane asylum in Fulton, Missouri. Two women, both sisters of famous men, undergo lobotomies, while two local working-class women who are employed there set out to save the Roses as well as themselves. [The two Roses are Rosemary Kennedy, sister of JFK, and Rose Isabelle Williams, sister of Tennessee Williams. Both were lobotomized in real life. The play is a fictionalized account.]
