Biography
Over a dozen of Rita Barkey’s plays have been produced around the country. Most recently, her one-act, FEATHER AND BONE, was selected for The Last Frontier Theater Conference 2018, and then went on to be a prize winner at Riot Act, Inc., in Jackson Hole, WY. Her plays have been workshopped at Seven Devils and Chicago Dramatists, as well as at Montana Repertory Theater Play Slams and the Missoula Colony. Her artist residencies include the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and the Mary Anderson Center. Her awards include a fellowship from the Indiana Arts Commission as well as from Midwest Writers, and a Basile Emerging Playwright award. She’s a member of the Dramatists Guild and is an active board member for the International Centre for Women Playwrights. She holds an MFA from Ohio State.
