THE BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE - PLAYWRIGHT FAQs
So many good tips in reply to these questions:

How many rehearsals do I go to?
What do I say in rehearsals?

Which play do I send to which theatre?
What stage directions do I put in/leave out?
How do I know that the the idea for a play I have hasn't already been written?

Do I give character references of all my characters at the beginning of the script? If so how much do I give?

How do I describe my set requirements?
How Can I choose my own music for the play?

Are correct punctuation and grammar and correct spelling really essential?

WOMEN'S THEATER LINKS ESTABLISHING COMMUNICATION FOR WOMEN THEATRE ARTISTS

An actor and much else in theater named Julie Powers created a site to link and inform women in the theater. The graphics are colorful and arresting, but I had difficulty navigating the site. The latest guest book signing was three years old, and many of the links are not working, including the one to our ICWP. In trying to open Julie's resume, my computer warned of 'suspicious' file information, which has not happened with the other sites I reviewed. The table of contents includes such links as women's playwriting resources on the web, sources for costumes, actresses, diversity, theater educators, directors, etc. Some of the links work and some don't. Some I went to were outdated. It seems to be an interesting but older site that has not been maintained.

WRITEMOVIES.COM

Although this site is geared more toward movies and screenwriting than playwriting, there are still many good educational resources for writers.  The site lists contests, contains many articles, boasts the latest entertainment news including theatre news and generally provides lots of information.

WRITERS DIGEST

Obviously a well known name due to its popular writer's magazine, this sitecontains many links, including one for "scriptwriting".  The scriptwriting page contains links for tv writing, screen writing and playwriting,  however, the only content on the playwriting page is a featured product called Scriptwriting secrets.  There is a lot of information on this site (classes/agents/free articles/links to software and books) if you are willing to spend the time perusing the many pages.  The site is quite promotional for Writer's digests' products, courses and magazine.  Visit Writer's Prompts....a wonderful section.

WRITERNET

Writernet is an online community for those working in theatre, radio, tv, performing arts as well as directors, producers, actors, unions and
many others.  The site's content includes:  a talent pool, opportunities, links, a knowledge base and much more.  Subscriptions start at 25
pounds for students and go as high as 100 pounds for corporate subscribers.  It appears that only subscribers can access some areas
of the site, however, the Knowledge Base page has lots of useful links including a Guide to Literary Agents, Script Routes (a guide to over
100 theatres) as well as courses and contests.  The downside to this site is that it costs money to access these guides etc. even if you
are not a subscriber.

WRITER ONLINE

This is a generic writer's site that seems to feature "fiction" and is the home of the Writer's Online newsletter.  There are markets and
contests and classifieds all relating to writing but the site doesn't seem to have any genre specific playwriting information.
