01 Apr 2014 12:43 PM | Shirley Barrie

1542: Marguerite de Roberval, a young French noblewoman, has been banished by her brother to the Isle of Demons off the north coast of Newfoundland for daring to choose love over duty.  After two years on the island, and driven half-mad by loss, loneliness, hardship and memories, she has a chance of rescue.  But can she return to the society that betrayed her?

Based on a true story from the attempt to create the first European settlement in Canada, I am Marguerite, directed by Molly Thom, will premiere at the Alumnae Theatre, 70 Berkely St., Toronto from April 10 - 25, 2015
