The Candle of God, a novel

20 Feb 2013 3:19 PM | Donna Spector
Published in 2012 by Outskirts Press.

Fourteen-year-old Danny struggles with cystic fibrosis, but that's not his only challenge; he's also on a quest to find his biological father.

As Danny continues his quest, his journey and his illness inspire visits from a cast of colorful, lovable characters, all bent on saving the life of a dying child. Converging on his California abode are his eccentric Jewish family, including a pair of Gentile cousins and a dead grandfather, plus a menagerie of unlikely guests – psychics, an ex-rabbi, a motorcycle gang, a parade of faith healers and the head of the Tucson Atheist Society, whom Danny believes is his real father.

Nominated by an editor at Harper Collins for the Pushcart Editors' Book Award.
